By the end of trading Wednesday, China’s leading indexes saw minimal change from the previous day’s close. Elsewhere in the region, results varied.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng finished its day slightly ahead, up 33.59 for a closing mark of 26,863.88 (+0.13%). Nearly 1.77 billion shares were traded. Bank of China Ltd H was the index’s most active stock, with 285.43 million shares changing hands.
Pharmaceuticals topped the Hang Seng’s top performer list. Sino Biopharmaceutical Ltd gained 0.39 per share for a closing value of HK$5.85 (+7.14%). CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Ltd saw its stock raise to HK$12.56 per share, up 0.64 (+5.37%). Acoustic component manufacturer AAC Technologies Holding Co Inc was the day’s worst performing stock, losing 1.65 for a closing value of HK$46.35 (-3.44%).
Mainland stocks saw mixed results. The China A50 gained 28.65 points for a closing mark of 10,854.49 (+0.26%). Shenzhen’s SZSE Component dipped slightly, down 6.90 to close at 7,540.45 (-0.09%). The Shanghai SE Composite saw virtually no change from Tuesday’s end-of-day posting (+0.08/+0.00%).
The Nikkei 225 dropped 112.54 for a close of 20,442.75 (-0.55%). Olympus Corp took a slight step backward after two days of significant gains, down 230.0 for a closing value of JP¥4,475.0 (-4.89%) per share. The index’s worst performing stock was Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, down 67.0 for a closing share value of ¥1,141.0 (-5.55%). Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd (home delivery businesses) was the index’s top performer, up 83.5 for a closing per share value of ¥3,073.0 (+2.79%).
